About this data. The Space Markets Index (SMI) is published by Space Markets, Inc. for information only. It is a data product, not a market, an offer, or a price of anything tradeable, and it is not investment, financial, legal or tax advice or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. SMI is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, and may contain errors, omissions or delays. Figures are revised as sources update; see the methodology and change log. Do not rely on SMI to make financial decisions or to settle any contract.

Sources. Launch and payload-mass data from GCAT (J. McDowell, planet4589.org/space/gcat), licensed under CC BY 4.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0); modified by Space Markets; counts and totals are calculated by Space Markets. Provisional counts of launches since the latest GCAT update are calculated by Space Markets from Launch Library 2 by The Space Devs (thespacedevs.com); they are not included in index figures, which use GCAT only. Published prices are quoted as published by the named company on the date shown. Regulatory items are summarised from public FCC records and ITU publications (ITU material © ITU). Company and agency statements are linked to their own published pages.

Testnet. SMX Stage 1 is testnet only (Base Sepolia). Test USDC and test tokens have no monetary value. There is no live or mainnet trading and no real-money market.

No affiliation. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by SpaceX. SMI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any other company, agency or data source named on this page. Company names are used only to identify the source of published information.

Conflicts. Space Markets also operates SMX, a testnet venue. Some SMX testnet markets concern events that SMI also tracks, such as orbital compute and power-beaming demonstrations. Some companies named on this page may be current or prospective business contacts of Space Markets. SMI applies the same published rules to every company, and no SMX market is resolved using SMI figures. See the methodology for how SMI is kept separate from SMX markets.
